Travel aboard Golden Chariot with Pride and Splendor

South India’s very own luxury tourist train, Golden Chariot with its two journeys - Pride of the South and Splendor of the South - offers a wholesome experience of exploring the treasure troves of south India. Running since 10th march, 2008, Golden Chariot is the fruitful outcome of the joint venture of Karnataka State Tourism and Development Corporation (KSTDC) and the Indian Railways.

The luxury tourist train is coated with purple and gold color symbolizing elegance and Karnataka’s golden jubilee celebration respectively and its logo portrays a mythological animal having an elephant head and lion’s body. While Pride of the South journey covers the destinations of Karnataka, the Splendor of the South journey is an exciting mish-mash of temple cities of Tamil Nadu, French Colony Pondicherry and backwaters of Kerala.

Pride of the South:

Pride of the South is an 8 days and 7 night’s journey offered on board Golden Chariot train. The weeklong journey is an enchanting mix of World Heritage Sites, wildlife treasure troves and relaxing on the sun-kissed beaches of Goa. Beginning from Yeshwanthpur Railway Station in Bangalore, the journey spanning over 8 days encompasses Kabini, Mysore, Hassan, Hospet and Badami and Goa.

• Safari tour in Bandipur National Park
• Dinner and cultural extravaganza in Mysore
• Tea hour in Sola Souta Maior-the Old Portuguese house

Splendor of the South:

The second journey offered on board Golden Chariot train, Splendor of the South takes guests on a whirlwind tour across temple cities of Tamil Nadu and backwater region of Kerala. Beginning from Yeshwanthpur Railway Station in Bangalore, the 8 days and 7 nights journey covers Mamallapuram, Pondicherry, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Madurai, Thiruvananthapuram, Poorvar, Alleppey and Kochi.
